Client: Shrewsbury and Atcham Borough Council
This attractive, high quality, low energy sustainable development was constructed on a town centre site with measures incorporated to control potential flooding from the adjacent River Severn.
Completed in 2004 at a cost of £10.7 million, the design features passive ventilation, electricty generation by photo-voltaic cells and grey water recycling; it subsequently achieved a BREEAM rating of “very good”.
The Employer opted for a design and build procurement route. We worked with the Employer to develop his requirements and with the Contractor to ensure that his proposals complied with the requirements including participation in meetings to agree contract terms and conditions. We certified interim payments throughout the construction period and agreed the Final Account on completion.
In 2015 the buildings were converted into the main site for the University Centre Shrewsbury.
