Client: Shropshire Council (with funding support from Heritage Lottery Fund, English Heritage and the Aggregates Levy Sustainable Fund)
The Llanymynech Limeworks Heritage Project was a three year project, completed in February 2009.
The last remaining Hoffman lime burning kiln in the UK has been given Scheduled Monument status. The structure has been protected by a canopy and consolidated and access has been improved for visitor safety. The site is linked to the quarry by two inclined planes, both having been cleared and made accessible to the public. The former stable block has been converted into an education room and the Tally House structure consolidated. The site is also classed as an SSSI.
We provided a full QS service for the project.
